Peter "Painless" Schindelholz, DDS
The oldest of five boys, Peter was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin until moving up to Rhinelander in 1969 with his parents and brothers. After graduating from Rhinelander High School (yes, he was a Hodag!) he went on to UW Madison to earn his BS in Zoology in 1975. With a scientific mind, and knowing he liked to work with his hands, Painless chose dentistry graduating from Marquette Dental School in 1979. That same summer he moved up to Land O’ Lakes. He built his state of the art, log dental office in 1992 where his patients can come for their dentistry in a homelike setting.
Always curious about why some teeth wore down or broke more than others, and wanting to stop or slow down that process, Painless took advanced courses in the late 90’s from the Dawson Center for Advancement of Dentistry and the Pankey Institute. This continued education has served our patients well in getting their dentistry to last for a long time (hopefully their lifetime!) He has studied extensively to understand orofacial pain "TMJ", and had helped many.
Painless is a member of ADA, WDA, Dawson Alumni, Chicago Dental Society, Phelps/LOL Lions Club, the Land O’ Lakes Fish and Game Club and the Chamber of Commerce for Land O’ Lakes, Phelps and Watersmeet, MI. He has served as President of Vilas County Chamber of Commerce and the Land O’ Lakes Lions Club. Currently, Painless is chairman of The Three Bear Sled Dog Races and Games and is in charge of the “Land O’ Lakes Fireworks” every July 3rd, something he has been doing since 1981.
Married for over 30 years to Diane, they have two grown daughters, Paula, a Doctor of Nursing Practice and Laura (Dr. Laura) who joined his dental practice in 2014. An avid skier, he also likes to fish, bike and hunt just about anything, especially pheasants with his dog. “I love taking courses in dentistry; especially in comprehensive care which enables me to do all dental and TMJ work that will last. I hope to practice dentistry for a long time Lord willing. The more I do it, the more I learn, the better I get, and the more I enjoy it.”
Laura M. Goll, D.D.S
Laura M. Goll, DDS joined the practice in the summer of 2014 but this is not the first time she has been to our office. As the daughter of Painless, she has been around this office and dentistry all of her life. “I love this area. I love the people and the pace. And I love working to make a positive difference in their lives. I could never see myself anywhere else,” she said.
Dr. Laura was born and raised in Land O’ Lakes and is a ’05 graduate of Northland Pines. She completed her undergraduate work at UW Madison with a degree in Anthropology. There she was part of PHI Beta Kappa Honor Society. She graduated from Marquette Dental School in spring of 2014 where she had been on the Dean’s List. While there she was nominated by the faculty and won the Wisconsin International College of Dentists “David Sampe Award.” Since the age of 14, she has accompanied her Dad on Dental mission trips to Haiti annually.
“I love the rural concept of dentistry” says Dr. Laura, “Where I can provide all types of dental services to my patients, thus saving them trips to specialists that are out of our area. I think rural towns have an advantage of building a great patient/doctor relationship. We share the the same community. I know planting roots here was right for me.”
Dr. Laura is a current member of the American Dental Association, The Wisconsin Dental Association, the Chicago Dental Society, the American Academy of Facial Esthetics, and is Botox and Dermal Filler Certified.
In her free time, Dr. Laura enjoys spending time with her husband and two boys. They are frequently found outside enjoying all seasons snowmobiling, ATVing, and boating.
Our Staff
Melissa – Hygienist
After graduating from Northcentral Technical College in 2016 with her degree in Associate of Applied Science in Dental Hygiene, Melissa came knocking at our door. One of the smartest things we ever did was open it! Besides her gentle, yet thorough touch, Melissa lives and breathes great patient care! While at NTC she also obtained Communication and Socioeconomic Certificates and is an active member of the American Dental Hygiene Association. Throughout school and into her professional career she continues to volunteer for numerous dental and sealant clinics while giving presentations to students about oral health habits in schools. Knowledgeable and compassionate, our patients know they are getting top notch treatment. A Northland Pines Alumna, Melissa enjoys spending time with family, reading and camping. She lived in the Saint Germain area with her husband, Nathan, and two children, Ellie and Zeke.
Stacey - Hygienist
Stacey is our newest addition to the office, joining us in January 2025. She brings a plethora of hygiene knowledge and experience with her. She has been practicing dental hygiene since 2000.
Stacey has lived in the Northwoods since 2016. In her spare time, she enjoys our local community and outdoor activities. She also likes to travel for small get aways to warm places during the winter.
She has been a member of the American Dental Hygienists Association since 2000 and has been involved with leadership over the years. Her most recent focus has been on Medical and Dental Integration.
As her patient, you will find that she likes to keep you comfortable while delivering quality care. Educating her patients on the latest oral hygiene adjuncts is important to optimal overall oral healthcare. She is looking forward to meeting more members of our community and providing your oral health care here at our office!
Sue (aka Suzzz) – Lead Dental Assistant
In 1995, Sue found her position working for Painless. She started managing the sterilization area, but after one year, moved into dental assisting and has been sitting alongside one of the doctors ever since. “What I love the most about my job here is to see how appreciative so many of our patients are. Many even give the Doctors a hug!” She said. Born and raised in South Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Sue and her husband moved to the north woods to raise their family and presently live in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. They have three grown sons and seven grandchildren! In her spare time, Sue likes to cook, garden, walk with “Etta, her German Shepard and ride her beloved horse “Mousse.”
Jessica – Dental Assistant
Jessica joined our office in January 2018 as a dental assistant, but the work is not new to her! She has been assisting since 2014. Her favorite aspect of dentistry is working with Dr.Laura and watching the procedure fold into something unexpected. She and her husband purchased their first home right here in Land O' in 2019. Together they have two Golden Retrievers, Lila & Ivy, plus a corgy named Poppy. When dentistry is not occupying her mind, Jessica loves to read, bake, and hang with her pups.
